Skin Disorders

Skin diseases are generally a serious problem. They can occur on various parts of our body and are more commonly seen in rural areas. This is because many people in villages depend on agriculture, which involves frequent water use. Moreover, many women and girls are also seen affected by different types of skin diseases. Additionally, exposure to sunlight causes various skin problems. Common skin diseases include eczema, fungal infections, scabies, hives, dandruff, psoriasis, ringworm, etc. Among these, the most commonly observed are ringworm and fungal infections.

What Are Skin Diseases?

Skin diseases affect the skin or cause various problems and spread on the skin. Simply put, skin diseases refer to various disorders of the skin.

What Causes Skin Diseases?

The causes and types of skin diseases vary. Skin diseases caused by infections depend on the type of infectious agent. Common infectious agents include different kinds of bacteria, viruses, protozoa, fungi, etc.

Diseases such as diabetes, lupus, stress, and pregnancy increase the likelihood of developing skin diseases.

Skin diseases can also result from allergies, autoimmune reactions, and other factors.

What Are the Symptoms of Skin Diseases?

Symptoms of skin diseases vary depending on the type and cause. Not all skin diseases cause itching.

There are also some skin problems that are not considered skin diseases, such as skin irritation from tight belts, blisters on the feet caused by wearing shoes, or rashes caused by wearing rough clothes.

Common symptoms of various skin diseases include:

  • Blisters on the skin
  • Pain or itching in the skin
  • Rough or coarse skin
  • Peeling or flaking of the skin
  • Discolored patches on the skin
