Endoscopy is performed for observing the internal condition of the human body and for various other purposes without surgery.
Using optical fiber or similar systems, full internal reflection of light is utilized to observe the inside of the body. For endoscopy, a tube is inserted through the patient’s mouth. This tube can be controlled by the doctor as needed. Although the camera and light source remain outside, light enters the body through the curved path and images are captured by the camera. The doctor monitors this through a screen.
Endoscopy is performed to examine the condition of the esophagus, stomach, or duodenum, to collect tissue for biopsy, to remove polyps, and for other purposes. It also helps to detect ulcers in the digestive system. If something accidentally gets stuck in the stomach, endoscopy can be used to remove it.
Endoscopy is generally performed in cases of vomiting, abdominal pain, intestinal problems, difficulty swallowing, intestinal bleeding, etc. In such cases, endoscopy is more effective for diagnosis than X-rays.
It has earned a strong reputation since its inception by ensuring accurate healthcare services.
